Issue Description
We received an emergency call from a client regarding a water heater leaking from the bottom. An appointment was scheduled for the same day to address the issue promptly.
Actions Taken
- Initial Assessment:
- We arrived at the client’s location approximately one hour after receiving the call.
- Upon inspection, it was confirmed that the water heater was leaking from the bottom.
- Warranty Check:
- Inquired about the warranty status of the water heater; it was determined that the warranty had expired.
- The homeowner opted to replace the existing water heater.
- Removal and Replacement Process:
- Drained the old water heater using a hose and disconnected the gas line and hot and cold water hoses.
- Allowed the water heater to fully drain before proceeding with removal.
- Procured a new water heater from a plumbing supply store.
- Installation:
- Removed the old water heater and installed the new unit in the same location.
- Installed new supply hoses for both hot and cold water, as well as a new gas supply hose.
- Secured the water heater with two straps (one at the bottom and one at the top).
- Connected the water heater vent.
- Post-Installation Testing:
- Turned on the water and gas supply to check for leaks.
- Activated the water heater and waited 15 minutes to ensure that the homeowner received hot water.
- Cleanup:
- Cleaned the work area thoroughly upon completion of the installation.
